Loreal Australia was dealing with the restrictions of a lockdown across the country for their annual Colour Trophy event.
The event was to be a mix of pre-recorded content, a live-stream from a venue in Melbourne and when winners were announced, the production team would need to cut to participants using video calls from around Australia.
Loreal needed was a simple platform site to host their live stream, show a gallery, take questions from their audience and of course work across multiple devices with registered login. Loreal also needed to report on guests as well as have users opt-in or out of their marketing communications on registration.
Originally they looked at Bettercast Conference however there were a lot of features in the platform that they simply didn't need. So the Bettercast team built a simple one-page event portal just for them.
Not only did the Bettercast team provide a simple solution for Loreal, with reporting, registration and high-quality live streaming, but the team used it as inspiration to develop the Bettercast Onepage platform, to service events just like Loreal.
We took the existing infrastructure for video delivery, then started to remove all the additional features that a single event doesn't need. We also took the opportunity to add two new features, based on the Loreal requirements.
The first was to place a widget section next to the video player, which allowed us to embed an Iframed gallery, and then during the event, we can change the content to use Slido to engage the audience.
This widget area is a fantastic feature for both OnePage and Conference as the content is dynamic and can be updated and changed based on what presentation is active.
The second feature we added is a video catchup gallery, that would enable Bettercast users to create a portal for their video content that all lives behind their branded registration page.
This content also leverages the real-time architecture, so when a user changes the video, all the additional, widget, presenter and about content updates with it.
We believe that there is a use case for video content creators to use Bettercast OnePage to produce content and live steam to a paying audience and generate revenue from subscription payments, rather than advertising.
